In Memoriam

The purpose of this blog is to honor our former classmates who attended Bountiful High School as members of the class of 1965 and are now deceased. These souls, who have gone before us, were our friends, our associates, and an important part of our own history. They deserve to be remembered. We were able to research a school photo for most of these former classmates. We have also located obituaries for many of them, and have included statistical information regarding the death of those for whom an obituary was not found.

Our profound thanks to all of our friends who have sent information to assist us in preparing this labor of love. Researched and compiled by Yvonne Rasmussen and Diane Day.

**Due to Blogger limitations, dates for those who passed before 1970 will display inaccurately in the chronological list. You'll find those classmates' obituaries listed under 1970.

Stewart Moss

On September 26, 2019, we unexpectedly lost our loving father, husband, brother, and friend when Stewart passed away in Fernley Nevada.

David Stewart Moss, born August 6, 1947, was the third of five children born to David Claude Moss and Cleo Lucille Lund. Stewart was raised on a dairy farm in Woods Cross Utah, where he learned at a young age the value of hard work and providing for family. He graduated from Bountiful High class of 1965. Stewart spent his early years working the farm, joined the Army Reserves, drove school bus for Davis County, and was a Davis County volunteer firefighter. In his free time, Stewart loved racing his El Camino at Bonneville.

Stewart married Frances Stone on February 13, 1970, and had three children: Rocksan, David, and Nitisha. Stewart and Fran divorced. He continued working and furthering his education by going to night school. Stewart met Margie Linford Crocker and her daughter, April, and married shortly thereafter on November 28, 1979. Together they had one child, Shalene. Stewart continued working for Eaton Kenway where his job required him to travel often. When he wasn’t working, you’d find him in the fields with the cows, chopping wood in the woodpile, welding a big project, riding four-wheelers, camping or rafting the Green River always surrounded by family and friends. In 1987 he took a job offer to work for Arrow Electronics and moved his family to Yaphank NY. Living on Long Island Stewart gained a true testimony and love for The Book of Mormon and The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints. He had many service opportunities and callings in the church, he especially enjoyed being the ward Missionary Leader. Stewart enjoyed the friends he made in NY but the distance from Utah was too much. He transferred to Reno Nevada in 1995 and remained with Arrow Electronics until he retired in 2015. He divorced Margie and she died March 14, 2006.  He married Rosalinda Allen on April 5, 2002. They together spent his remaining years serving in their local LDS ward, traveling, and enjoying family. Stewart bravely fought and lived with kidney disease for the last 13 years, taking a huge toll on his body.  He was often tired and weak but continued to live life and love every moment.

Stewart was welcomed in heaven by his parents and two sisters Claudia, and Judy who preceded him in death. He is survived by his brother Darrell (Becky) Moss, sister Shauna (Reese) Peters, wife Rose, five children: April Crocker Zahr (Rob), Rocksan (Eric), David (Jackie), Nitisha (Andy), Shalene (Michael); five stepchildren: Andrei, Casey (Christian), Monette (Brian), Joyce (Max), Ryan (Mel) and 26 cherished grandchildren that he absolutely adored.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 3, 2019, at 6:00 PM at the Woods Cross Stake Center at 2064 South 800 West, Woods Cross, Utah 84087. Funeral service and interment will be held Saturday, October 5, 2019, in Sparks Nevada.

Brent Moore

Donald “Don” Brent Moore, 71, passed away suddenly on August 10, 2019, in Boise, Idaho.  He was born in Salt Lake City on August 26, 1947, to Donald F. and Charleen C. Moore.

In 1965 he graduated from Bountiful High School and enlisted in the Air Force. After being stationed in Savannah, GA, and Taipei, Taiwan, he left the service in 1971 with a rank of Sergeant. Shortly after leaving the service, he met and married his first wife, Paula Toronto. He was very proud when his beautiful daughter, Bryn, was born and he became a loving father.

Don attended the University of Utah, where he studied accounting and economics. Just shy of graduation, he left college and began a lengthy career in administration in the transportation industry. This took him to California where he met the love of his life, Irene Dillon, in 1980, and the two were married in 1985 in Eagle, Idaho. At the time of his passing they had just celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary and were making plans for a trip to Hawaii on their 35th anniversary.

After moving to Idaho, Don changed careers and began working in the plumbing supply industry in sales and inventory management positions.  Don developed a love of fishing at an early age, which he shared with his beloved grandfather, “Ba.” He loved getting out on a lake, especially Hebgen, in his kick boat and spending the day fly fishing, then assuming his well-known position as Camp Cook. He purchased a smoker and was known to ship his brisket to family members during winter holidays.

Don’s other passion was golf. During his career he played in several company tournaments and, after his retirement, played almost every day. He was also an avid reader, often finishing a book in one sitting. His sense of adventure led him to hang gliding, hot air balloon crewing, and just getting in the car with Irene to see where a road went.

Don loved playing the guitar and writing music. He played in several bands, including during his tour of duty in Taipei, where he played with Johnny Weston, who sang the Have Gun Will Travel theme song. Upon returning to the states he played in a band during college and then put his musical talents aside for several years until he began playing with the Emmaus community and then the blue grass and worship bands at his church.

With a deep devotion to God, Don was a regular participant in the Emmaus community, leading two weekend walks, and serving a term on the board. He had just begun working with the Kairos Outside group and was planning on working the upcoming event. As a Stephens Minister, he was able to use his listening and caring talents for other in need. Using his background in the plumbing and irrigation industry, he volunteered to handle the sprinkler system at his church for many years. It was a common practice for him to go the church several times during the summer to start a “zone” running to green up a patch here or there in the lawn.

Don is survived by his loving best friend and wife, Irene (Eagle, ID), his parents, Don and Charleen (Portland, OR), his siblings, Loris (Dale), Vancouver, WA, Janet (David), San Diego, Sean (Joe), Vancouver, WA, his beloved daughter, Bryn (Dan) and their family, Ronin, Bronwyn, Tess, Asher, (Denver, CO), as well as nieces and nephews and their families. Being the oldest sibling he must have determined he needed to go first and set a good example.  He was so loved and will be sorely missed by all of us.

As an option to flowers, the family would welcome donations made in Don’s name to http://www.soulriverinc.org/ a nonprofit that partners veterans with urban children to teach them fly fishing.

A memorial will be held,11:00 am, Friday, August 30, 2019 at Eagle United Methodist Church, located at 651 N. Eagle Rd., Eagle, with an inurnment beginning at 2:00 pm at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery located at 10100 N. Horseshoe Bend Rd., Boise.

Marv Blosch

Santa Clara - Marvin "Marv" Alan Blosch passed away Friday, August 2, 2019 at 8:14 PM in his Santa Clara, Utah home surrounded by his family and holding hands with his wife, Linda. Marv was a warrior, 72 years young, who was absolutely not ready to leave this world. He had worked hard his entire life, and continued up to the last week of his life, and still had so much more that he wanted to do. Marv had plans to take his entire family back to the Samoan Islands, where his spirit came alive as a young LDS missionary. He wanted more time to enjoy his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved deeply.

His family was his entire world, and the sole reason for his drive and dedication to life. The bar for Marv was always set high. He was a ten-time marathon runner, an avid hiker, an accomplished world traveler, and a successful business man. Marv truly had a love for travel and exploration of the world and imparted that love in his four daughters, organizing countless trips around the world, beautifully sharing those experiences with them. He hiked throughout Nepal and Switzerland, explored the Amazon with his best friends, Larry and Kit. He summited Kilimanjaro with his third daughter, Angela.

Marv dedicated his life to his high school sweetheart, wife, and partner of 50 years, Linda. He spent his time with her. He loved and cared for her. Playing tennis, golfing and gardening most days. They met in ninth grade at South Davis Jr. High where Linda's heart skipped a beat as soon as she saw his "baby blue eyes, and baby blue shirt". Something she said daily to him on the days that led up to his death, "Hey! Where are those baby blues?" She would laugh and try to get him to open his eyes.

Marv and Linda have lifelong friends and wish to extend a deep gratitude towards each and every one, in Bountiful, Palm Desert, and Santa Clara.

Marv was diagnosed with renal cell adenocarcinoma in April of 2018. Marv battled his metastatic cancer each day and was the ultimate warrior. Rarely complaining, he fought with every ounce of strength he had. Marv and his family extend their deepest gratitude to the cancer center and hospital in St. George, Utah. He was treated always with love, care and dignity.

Marv is survived by his wife, Linda Winegar Blosch; his four daughters: Alyssa, Amy, Angela, and Andrea; 17 Grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

We invite all those who would like to celebrate Marv's life to attend the services on Friday, August 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Santa Clara First Ward church building, 3040 Santa Clara Dr, Santa Clara, UT 84765. A viewing will be held Friday, prior to services, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Santa Clara City Cemetery.

Kristin Lish

Kristin Lish, age 72, was peacefully released from this earthly life on June 13, 2019. After a life filled with travel, deep courage, fierce devotion to her family, a passion for nature and its creatures and a blessedly talented pianist, she chose to travel to Boise, Idaho in her final days to be surrounded by her loving family as she graciously passed away.

Kristin, the second of four girls, was born January 18, 1947 in the arms of the Escalante Desert in Milford, Utah to Farrel and Ruth Lish. From a young age Kristin connected deeply with animals and found solace in the beauty of nature. Following in the footsteps of her large family of talented artists, dancers, poets and musicians, at the age of 5, Kristin was playing the Battle Hymn of the Republic by ear. After moving to Bountiful, Utah with her family, Kristin began to play piano professionally, spend days with her horse and was involved with school as a student body officer. Her love for Christ was deeply nurtured as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Out of high school, a desire for adventure took her to BYU Hawaii where she fell in love with the ocean and her free spirit was nurtured. Continuing to follow her heart, Kristin travelled to Alberta, Canada where she raised her two girls, Mikel and Marni. She studied music composition and education at the University of Alberta allowing her to become a talented music teacher for many years to come. As a fiercely committed single mother, she often sacrificed her own health to provide a life filled with beauty, art, travel, spirituality, animals, education, nature and a deep connection to family for her children. With piercing blue eyes, a contagious smile, a huge expansive heart and generous spirit, she was a devoted friend to all who knew her. Selfless in her giving, Kristin lived her life for those she loved, often facilitating others life celebrations.

Kristin is survived by her beloved daughters, Mikel and Marni (Tim); grandchildren Kailey (Braiden), Tyson, Trevin and Nicholas; great grandchildren, Lilyan and Sofia-Jo; her three sisters: Sherrie, Launee and Lisa; and many family and friends that loved her dearly.

Kristin was preceded in death and welcomed with arms of grace by many loved ones including her parents, Ruth and Farrel Lish; son in law, Tyler Henderson, and her cherished animals Cinders, Queenie, Nathan, and Sager. Her music will continue to bless us and bring peaceful inspiration and comfort to the hearts of many. Per Kristin's request, she was cremated, and her ashes will be honored during a private ceremony.

"So, my friends, I say goodbye today. In my mind, heart and prayers, I will see you having courage and insights to fulfill your goals, desires, and dreams. As I told my sweet students I supervised each morning - be kind, do your very best and be happy!" Kristin Lish.

Ed Robinson

Edward Lynn Robinson, aged 71, passed away April 17, 2018. He was born October 30, 1946 to Albert and Mary Evelyn "Eva" Robinson in Salt Lake.

He married Karla Bangerter in 1963. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Karla of 54 years, his son, Terry and his daughters, Kim and Kelly, as well as by his 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Kenneth Robinson.

Ed worked for Peterbilt of Utah for over 40 years as a Diesel Mechanic as well as running a home garage service for many years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with family. He was a jack of all trades and a measure twice, cut once kind of guy.

Ed lived a life that was full of pride, joy, happiness and love. His generosity, work ethic, humility and selflessness are all qualities that those he left behind admired most about him. Ed was a man of few words, but when he did speak you'd hate to miss it. He had a wise crack for every situation. He appeared to be a tough egg, but his shell was very easy to crack. As anyone who knew him will attest, he was always the first to offer a helping hand, but would never be one to ask for help himself.

He will be forever remembered by everyone he met.

In lieu of flowers, grab a beer, call a friend, tune-up your car, or change your oil. He would like that.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday April 22, 2018 at the Bountiful Elks Lodge located at 544 W 400 N, in Bountiful, UT, from 2:00pm - 6:00pm. (Per Ed's wishes, casual attire is required.) We hope you can join us to honor his memory, and enjoy a cold beverage with friends and family.

Julie Ann Warren

Mom passed away quietly surrounded by her family Sunday October 22, 2017. Born on January 1st to J. Harold and Ruth Marie Warren in Logan, Utah, her birthday was celebrated as the first birth in Cache Valley. Among her most treasured possessions was a baby ring that was one of the gifts given by the merchants to the first child born. Since then it has graced the hand of each child and grandchild when they were blessed and named.

Mom graduated from Bountiful High School, and later attended both Utah State University and University of Utah, and remained an Aggie fan. She married L. Brent Piep in January of 1966, and subsequently raised 4 children with him in North Salt Lake.

An active member of the LDS church her whole life, Mom held many positions in the church, but received the most joy and satisfaction working with the Boy Scouts. She mentored many young men as they worked on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, including both sons and 4 grandsons.

In her professional life she worked in a number of different fields from teaching, food catering, insurance processing and the medical field. She found great rewards when she was teaching school, and loved the challenge and adrenalin rush that came with working in the OR at the U of U med center.

Mom was a talented cook and gardener, but managed to work wonders with a needle. She was sought after for her needlework, and a number of finished projects were included in books. Her quilts made for family frequently included needlework blocks as well as the hand quilting; she hand drew the patterns for baby quilts for each of her grandchildren as well as a number of her nieces and nephews. One of her talents her ability to look at a dress, skirt, blouse of shirt in the store and then return home and reproduce them. For many years her children wore the latest fashioned fabricated at home by her hands. In the garden she took great enjoyment in trying to grow plants that would likely not grow for anyone else. The last few years of her life she took pride in giving people gifts of home grown pomegranates she had pick from her tree as she stepped out her front door.

She is survived by her husband, Brent, Children Michael, Norman (Stacy), Teresa (Kevin) and Kristina, Grandchildren, 1 Aunt and 4 sisters, along with many nephews, nieces and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother.

Ken Petersen

On January 23, 2017 our Dad, Grandpa, and friend, Kenneth Kay Petersen returned to heaven to finally reunite with his Mom and Dad, whom he missed dearly. Our Dad, Kenneth Kay Petersen was born on March 11, 1947 to Ralph Petersen and Myrtle Mary Neilsen-Petersen. He was one of five children; sisters: Devola, Cora, and Carma; and his brother, Shirl. Our Dad graduated from Bountiful High School in 1965 and furthered his education at ITT Technical School where he received a degree in welding. Our Dad Ken enlisted in the Navy in 1969 and served for a brief period in the Vietnam War. He was very patriotic and loved the song “God Bless the USA.”

Our Dad Ken married his first wife Marilyn, later divorced, but together had a daughter, Wendy Petersen-Hurman. On November 19, 1969 he married Carol Bills, later divorced, but together they had David Petersen (Billie Jo), and Amber Bridges (Scott). Our Dad had six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren (three more on the way). Our Dad Ken had such a strong faith in the LDS church. He felt very fortunate to be able to go through the LDS Temple. He had such a strong faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Our Dad Ken had many passions throughout his life. As a teenager he enjoyed fixing up cars and was a member of a car club. Our Dad was also a coach for his son, David’s baseball team for many summers. He loved working with young kids. Our Dad’s biggest passion was being an over-the-road truck driver; he was a truck driver for almost thirty years. He would often tell people that he had driven close to three million miles and had pretty much covered every major city throughout the United States. He kept a map book of the United States and highlighted all areas he had been. Since retiring he has lived vicariously through his son, David who is also an over-the-road truck driver. He was so proud of David and what he had accomplished through school and now his truck driving. He loved the phone calls from David with updates of where David was going to be traveling. They would often discuss which highways would be used in David’s travels.

Our Dad was also very proud of me, Amber. I became a distance runner and have run a handful of marathons. My Dad never missed a race. He was there to attend almost every one and always met me at the finish line. He bragged to everyone about my accomplishments. My dad was giddy with all inclusions of our lives. His heart was so filled with love for us that it was hard to believe his heart fit inside his chest. We are going to miss his goofy and playful personality, his beautiful blue eyes, and his deep love for us.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Memorial Lake Hills Mortuary, 10055 South State Street, Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and again one hour prior to funeral services at the same location. Interment will be at Memorial Lake Hills Cemetery. Alan Keddington

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Martin Alan Keddington, passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 at home in Laguna Woods, CA after a valiant battle with cancer. He is already missed by those who knew and loved him. Alan was born in Salt Lake City, on Dec. 4, 1946, to Joseph Martin and Elda Page Keddington. He and his six younger brothers grew up in Bountiful.

Alan learned early on the value of hard work. Throwing papers on the early morning paper routes and working in his dad’s service station were a daily part of his early years. Alan graduated from Bountiful High School in 1965 and soon left to serve a mission in the Spanish American Mission. Upon his return, he married Julie Badham in the Salt Lake Temple on Sept. 14, 1967. Together they have four children. Alan became a pharmacist in Bountiful after graduating from the University of Utah. He also worked for General Motors for several years in Napa, CA, and he loved the beautiful drives throughout the Napa and Sonoma Valleys that this job entailed. The majority of his professional life was spent as an agent for Allstate Insurance in Orange County, CA.

Alan was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a dedicated servant of the Lord Jesus Christ and his testimony of the gospel was an integral part of who he was. His years of service as an ordinance worker in both the San Diego and Newport Beach Temples alongside his wife brought him great peace and joy.

He had a great love for baseball. For many years, he coached little league. He enjoyed playing on various community softball teams. Also, one of his favorite activities was to attend Major League baseball games with his family. Alan always had a corny joke ready to tell, a book waiting to be read, or a crossword puzzle halfway done. If he had his way, he would spend his days fishing the rivers of Utah or riding horses in the mountains above the “B.” His grandchildren loved “Grandpa Shadow” and his silly antics. Alan was incredibly smart, and his advice was always welcome. He is known for his adage to “Never Kick a Wet Chicken.” He was a true friend to all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Julie; his children Patrick (Annette) Keddington of San Diego, CA, Christina (Troy) Draper of Frisco, TX, James (Katherin) Keddington of Bountiful, Richard (Holly) Keddington of Watertown, WI; and 15 grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Madelyn.
