Kristin Lish, age 72, was peacefully released from this earthly life on June 13, 2019. After a life filled with travel, deep courage, fierce devotion to her family, a passion for nature and its creatures and a blessedly talented pianist, she chose to travel to Boise, Idaho in her final days to be surrounded by her loving family as she graciously passed away.
Kristin, the second of four girls, was born January 18, 1947 in the arms of the Escalante Desert in Milford, Utah to Farrel and Ruth Lish. From a young age Kristin connected deeply with animals and found solace in the beauty of nature. Following in the footsteps of her large family of talented artists, dancers, poets and musicians, at the age of 5, Kristin was playing the Battle Hymn of the Republic by ear. After moving to Bountiful, Utah with her family, Kristin began to play piano professionally, spend days with her horse and was involved with school as a student body officer. Her love for Christ was deeply nurtured as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Out of high school, a desire for adventure took her to BYU Hawaii where she fell in love with the ocean and her free spirit was nurtured. Continuing to follow her heart, Kristin travelled to Alberta, Canada where she raised her two girls, Mikel and Marni. She studied music composition and education at the University of Alberta allowing her to become a talented music teacher for many years to come. As a fiercely committed single mother, she often sacrificed her own health to provide a life filled with beauty, art, travel, spirituality, animals, education, nature and a deep connection to family for her children. With piercing blue eyes, a contagious smile, a huge expansive heart and generous spirit, she was a devoted friend to all who knew her. Selfless in her giving, Kristin lived her life for those she loved, often facilitating others life celebrations.
Kristin is survived by her beloved daughters, Mikel and Marni (Tim); grandchildren Kailey (Braiden), Tyson, Trevin and Nicholas; great grandchildren, Lilyan and Sofia-Jo; her three sisters: Sherrie, Launee and Lisa; and many family and friends that loved her dearly.
Kristin was preceded in death and welcomed with arms of grace by many loved ones including her parents, Ruth and Farrel Lish; son in law, Tyler Henderson, and her cherished animals Cinders, Queenie, Nathan, and Sager. Her music will continue to bless us and bring peaceful inspiration and comfort to the hearts of many. Per Kristin's request, she was cremated, and her ashes will be honored during a private ceremony.
"So, my friends, I say goodbye today. In my mind, heart and prayers, I will see you having courage and insights to fulfill your goals, desires, and dreams. As I told my sweet students I supervised each morning - be kind, do your very best and be happy!" Kristin Lish.
