In Memoriam

The purpose of this blog is to honor our former classmates who attended Bountiful High School as members of the class of 1965 and are now deceased. These souls, who have gone before us, were our friends, our associates, and an important part of our own history. They deserve to be remembered. We were able to research a school photo for most of these former classmates. We have also located obituaries for many of them, and have included statistical information regarding the death of those for whom an obituary was not found.

Brad Odekirk

William Bradford Odekirk was born Mar. 4, 1947, in Salt Lake City, UT to Ernest William Odekirk, Jr. and Rose Regina Strapek Odekirk.  He was a graduate of Bountiful High School, class of 1965.  Brad entered the US Army in 1965 and received basic training at Ft. Ord, CA after which he was stationed at Ft. Benning, GA.  By March 1966, he was among 1,700 101st Airborne Division paratroopers from Ft. Campbell, KY participating in a four-day amphibious-airborne maneuver ending April 1 at Camp Lejeune.  His unit was Company A, 1st Battalion of the division’s 501st Infantry.  Brad arrived in Vietnam on June 25, 1966 with the 4th Battalion, 503rd Airborne Infantry.  The battalion became part of the separate 173rd Airborne Brigade.  His unit stressed the use of helicopters in day and night movements.  Brad was discharged from the Army on July 22, 1968.

He married Teresa Elma Smith on September 30, 1968 in Davis County, UT and they had one child.

Brad lived in Salt Lake City until his passing July 2, 1994 in Bountiful, UT and was preceded in death by his father.  His mother passed two days later on July 4, 1994.  He is buried in Lakeview Memorial Cemetery in Bountiful, UT.
