In Memoriam

The purpose of this blog is to honor our former classmates who attended Bountiful High School as members of the class of 1965 and are now deceased. These souls, who have gone before us, were our friends, our associates, and an important part of our own history. They deserve to be remembered. We were able to research a school photo for most of these former classmates. We have also located obituaries for many of them, and have included statistical information regarding the death of those for whom an obituary was not found.

Our profound thanks to all of our friends who have sent information to assist us in preparing this labor of love. Researched and compiled by Yvonne Rasmussen and Diane Day.

**Due to Blogger limitations, dates for those who passed before 1970 will display inaccurately in the chronological list. You'll find those classmates' obituaries listed under 1970.

Carla Payne

Carla Payne Forbush was just a fun-loving, adventure-seeking, lady who grew up in Bountiful, Utah. She passed away with all of her family around her on April 21, 2022, at the young age of 75. Her departure was just in time for her to make her spiritual appearance on her water skis for boating season.

Carla is survived by her husband Don, her four children Kristen, Camela (Brian), Michelle (Chad), and Rob (Margot), her stepson Nate and her beloved grandchildren Taylor, Sierra, Kannon, Drew, Cailie, Brett, and Josh. She is also survived by her father T. Jay and her siblings Cheryl, Gary, and Shelley (Mark). In addition to her immediate family, Carla leaves behind an incredible extended family and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Elaine, her brother Rod, and her many dogs. We are confident they are joyfully reconnecting now.

If you knew Carla, you knew that you were loved and there is a good chance she told you that. She always showed up and she truly believed the more the merrier. During her time here, she found a way into everyone’s hearts.

She taught health and P.E. at Butler Middle School for most of her career, after retirement she volunteered for the Red Cross and at the Jordan River Temple keeping her resume full of activities. Carla loved her husband, kids, grandkids, her siblings, her many friends, her pets, her Heavenly Father, waterskiing, traveling and new adventures, butter, popcorn, a good 80s workout video, a peanut buster parfait, NCIS, and nature shows. Carla hated to be cold, dirty windows, having a dry mouth, and the word snot. That’s it. She was content with most everything else. We are not positive, but we think the cause of death was either a stroke or more likely a heavenly adventure she forgot to tell us about. Carla, Carly, Mom, Grandmom we’ve always loved you and miss you already.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the LDS ward building located at 10303 South 2700 West, South Jordan, Utah. A memorial service will be held the following day, Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 11:00 am with a viewing at 10:00 am at the same location. We encourage everyone to attend this last big get-together for the most fun woman on earth. In lieu of flowers feel free to donate to the humane society or the American Red Cross in Carla’s name.
