Larry married Karen Ruth Dean on Feb. 8, 1967 in Salt Lake City, UT.  He later married Colleen Isbell on Mar. 16, 1982 in Salt Lake City, UT.

Larry died May 27, 1999 in Salt Lake City, UT.  He was cremated and his ashes were given to his family.

JoAnne Kreutzer

Our beloved JoAnne Kreutzer Asay, 51, returned to our Father in Heaven on Wednesday, April 21, 1999 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Now that she is free from her cancer-ravaged body, she is able to once again spread her cheer, laughter, smiles, and use her wonderful capacity to love. She will be missed by her parents, husband, children, grandchild, and extended family but will always be remembered for her unique ability to gracefully handle challenges, unselfishly offer her love in behalf of others, and always share a smile and a word of encouragement to her loved ones. She enjoyed establishing and celebrating family traditions and loved to tell a good story. She always remembered her friends as if they were her sisters.

She was born May 29, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Donald G. Kreutzer and Clara Beth Stoddart. She was the third of four children. She was a woman of child-like faith with a tremendous capacity for charity and hope. JoAnne married and was sealed to her sweetheart David J. Asay in the Logan LDS Temple on July 18, 1968. She graduated from Bountiful High School in 1965 and attended Weber State and the University of Utah. "Go Utes!" Her love of people and her wonderful sense of humor forged many life-long friendships with people from all walks of life.

Active in the Church, she served in many capacities, but loved none more than her "Little Angels" in the Primary who prayed for her every day. She was a member of the Farmington 2nd Ward.

JoAnne was more proud of her "Little Chickadees" than anything else. Daughters, Jodi (Don) Parr and Jill Asay, son Martin D. Asay, and the "Screamin Mimi," her wonderful granddaughter, Jordan Parr, survive her. Her parents, husband and brothers Dennis G. (Sally) Kreutzer (Palatine, Illinois), Richard J. (Kathy) Kreutzer (Sandy, Utah) and beloved sister Jane K. (Richard) Hall (Riverdale, Utah), also survive her. She loved her nephews and nieces as if they were her own children.

JoAnne's work was a labor of love for women fighting breast cancer. Employed at Carol's Personal Boutique, she brought great comfort and hope to hundreds of ladies. For several years she was a hostess and tour guide at the Beehive House and loved the friendships she made there and gained a great sense of appreciation for Brigham Young.

"I've had a wonderful life, I've never missed a meal because I was poor. I was never forced to wait in line for food. I've never had to wear anything secondhand, unless I chose to do so. I never wanted in my heart for love and compassion because I was born and then married into the most wonderful circumstances I could have wished for. I am embarrassed at the lack of sacrifices I've had to make. I have always had a warm home and secure bed. I've never wanted for material things and I've never had to go without spiritual blessings either. I've been able to glimpse places in the world that had only existed in my imagination! In fact, the more closely I scrutinize my life, the more I see how wondrous and great it truly has been! I've never lacked for friends, for wonderful children and a loving husband, or for loving relatives. Perhaps most of all, the Gospel prepared me to accept the challenges and to appreciate all of my sweet tender blessings, because I've never lacked faith and always had a simple but sure testimony."

The family wishes to thank Drs. Kent DiFiore and Greg Litton, dear friend and confidante, Carol Lee, Gene Aguilar and the staff at Intermountain Oncology for the wonderful services they performed for JoAnne. Their dedication and commitment to JoAnne was truly special. We are also most grateful to Charyol Wilcox and the Vista Care Hospice staff.

JoAnne had but one simple request that she asked from her family and friends. "Remember me with joy and happiness If you can only remember me with tears and sorrow, I'd rather you not remember me at all."

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 26, 1999 at 11 a.m. in the Farmington Utah South Stake Center, 795 South 200 East, Farmington. Friends may call at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Sunday evening from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and at the Church Monday from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Johnny Salt

John William Salt, 52, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 28, 1999 from complications of a heart attack, surrounded by those he loved.

Born November 8, 1946 in Salt Lake City, son of William F. and Della Jo Hickman Salt. John grew up in Bountiful and graduated from Skyline High. Received his education from Utah Technical College. Currently owned and operated Salt Ornamental Iron.John was married to his best friend and sweetheart, Rosanne Tingey on June 6, 1997. Sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple June 6, 1998. He was an active member of the LDS Church, Bountiful 18th Ward where he was serving in the Young Men's Presidency.

John loved the outdoors, especially hunting. He had a great love for his cabin and the surroundings in Fremont, Utah where he spent a good part of his life from his youth on. John touched many lives with his gentle ways and his unconditional love for others. A good deal of his compassionate service to others was done quietly and behind the scenes.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rosanne, of Bountiful; his parents; daughter, Tammy Salt, son, John William Salt, Jr. (Lisa); granddaughter, Abbie Salt; step-children, Amy (Rex) Christensen, Cory Schlutz, Clint Player (Cassie), Chad Player (Bobby Jo); grandchildren, McKenzie, Hailee and Jordan Player; sisters, Laurelee (Ronald) Remigi, Cindy (Richard) Deverall, Jill (Kurt) Tannbaum, Emma Jo (Ed) Cadwalader, Valerie (David) Phippen; brother, Timothy (Traci) Salt. Preceded in death by brother, William Francis Salt III.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 6, 1999 at 11 a.m. in the Bountiful 18th Ward Chapel, 165 South 1000 East. John Wernli

BOUNTIFUL--Surrounded by his loving family, John Henry Wernli was called home by his Heavenly Father on December 21, 1998 in Salt Lake City following a short illness.

He was born December 1, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to John Henry and Billie Jean Jackson Wernli. He married his high school sweetheart Kristie Mae Olson, on August 10, 1968 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and their family was sealed for time and all eternity on November 7, 1987 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

John was a great outdoors enthusiast: shooting his guns and teaching others from his vast gun knowledge, hunting, camping, fishing, riding four wheelers, anything that involved being outside and having fun with his family. John was a great contributor to scouting and was actively involved for over 10 years in all levels of the program. He was an active member of the LDS church, recently having been called as financial clerk in the Young Adult ward, a High Priest Group member, a faithful home teacher and a primary teacher.

A man for all seasons and a great friend to all who knew him, to his many friends and family members his wry sense of humor will be sorely missed. Beneath his gruff exterior held a gentle, loving heart who held his wife and children as number one in his life. He will be affectionately remembered by his family for his work ethic, keen mechanical abilities, integrity, generosity and great strength.

John was a journeyman Pipefitter and Steamfitter, a member of Local 19 for 30 years, he was employed at and co-owner of Wernli Refrigeration for 35 years. He served in the Army 419th Transportation Division reserves for six years.

He is survived by his wife, Kristie, son Aaron John and daughter Jonell Page (Michael) and grandson Evan Michael Page; mother Billie Jean Wernli; brothers: Mike, David, Bill, Rob and Ron; sisters: Pat Christensen and Shawn Smith and all their spouses, many loving in-laws and nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father John and nephew Curtis Wernli.

Funeral services will be at 12 noon, Monday, December 28, 1998 at the Bountiful 30th Ward Chapel, 2200 South 650 East, Bountiful, Utah. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and again Monday morning from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the church. Jeanne Flandro

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Jeanne Leigh Flandro Smith, age 50, passed away in her home in Bountiful with her family at her side on Tuesday, February 17, 1998 following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born April 15, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Albert O. and Abby Barber Flandro. Married Steven Harley Smith for time and all eternity on March 12, 1970 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was a devoted wife and dedicated mother who put husband and children above all else.

She was our best friend, confidant, and teacher. She was an active member of the LDS Church and instilled many quality traits in her children. Jeanne graduated from the University of Utah. She taught English in the Davis County School District and was teaching at Centerville Junior High School.

Survived by her devoted husband, Steven; loving children: six daughters and two sons, Ricci Nightingale (Jim), Stacy Coles (Eric), Shelby, Stephanie, Erin, and the triplets, Christopher, Amy and Daniel; sister Shelley Daniels (Jack) of Jefferson, Oregon; brothers Dr. Gary Flandro (Lyn) of Tullahoma, Tennessee and Neil Flandro (Carrie) of Centerville; and Maxine Smith of St. George who was like a second mother to her. Jeanne was preceded in death by her mother, father, and nephew, Lee.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 21, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Val Verda Second Ward Chapel, 2600 South 500 West in Bountiful. Donna Carrico

Donna Neslen Young, was born on April 6, 1947 to Vernon Vivian and Mabel Alice Cook Carrico in Sedalia, Pettis, Missouri.

She was a 1965 graduate of Bountiful High School, Bountiful, UT.  Donna married Richard Allen Neslen on March 23, 1970 in Elko, NV.  She later married James Leroy Young, on April 18, 1992 in Davis County, UT.

Donna passed away suddenly from a brain tumor on Oct. 4, 1997 in Salt Lake City, UT.  She is survived by her husband and her children: Kimberly (Robert) Meyer, Cory, Chris and Cynthia Neslen; sister, Peggy L. Carrico and grandchildren, Skyler and Chandler Meyer.

Donna loved her family and was loved in turn by them.  She was a generous woman who never met a stranger.  She has gone to join her mother, father and brother, Randy Ray Carrico.  We will always love and miss her.

Memorial services on Wednesday, October 8, 11 AM at First Southern Baptist Church.  Funeral directors, Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary.  Interment Bountiful City cemetery.

Kathy Mathias

Kathleen Ann Mathias Dastrup was born on March 2, 1947 in Salina, UT to Melvin Gerald and Julia Ardella Hendrickson Mathias. 

Kathy married Orlo Liggett Dastrup in Elko Nevada on August 5, 1980.  She was a wonderful mother, wife, sister and friend.  Kathy had two daughters: Kassandra Lee and Robin Karrie Dastrup. 

Kathy died on September 9, 1997 at the age of 50 in Salt Lake City, UT.  She is buried in the Bountiful Memorial Park, Bountiful, UT.

Brad Odekirk

William Bradford Odekirk was born Mar. 4, 1947, in Salt Lake City, UT to Ernest William Odekirk, Jr. and Rose Regina Strapek Odekirk.  He was a graduate of Bountiful High School, class of 1965.  Brad entered the US Army in 1965 and received basic training at Ft. Ord, CA after which he was stationed at Ft. Benning, GA.  By March 1966, he was among 1,700 101st Airborne Division paratroopers from Ft. Campbell, KY participating in a four-day amphibious-airborne maneuver ending April 1 at Camp Lejeune.  His unit was Company A, 1st Battalion of the division’s 501st Infantry.  Brad arrived in Vietnam on June 25, 1966 with the 4th Battalion, 503rd Airborne Infantry.  The battalion became part of the separate 173rd Airborne Brigade.  His unit stressed the use of helicopters in day and night movements.  Brad was discharged from the Army on July 22, 1968.

He married Teresa Elma Smith on September 30, 1968 in Davis County, UT and they had one child.

Brad lived in Salt Lake City until his passing July 2, 1994 in Bountiful, UT and was preceded in death by his father.  His mother passed two days later on July 4, 1994.  He is buried in Lakeview Memorial Cemetery in Bountiful, UT.

Brent Beutler

Richard Brent Beutler, age 43, died at South Davis Community Hospital in Bountiful on Sunday January 20, 1991 from pneumonia and cancer.

He was born on October 23, 1947 to Richard F. and Carole Anderson Beutler in Richfield, Utah. He graduated from Bountiful High School and Weber State College. Served a two year mission to Equidor and Peru, and one year in Columbia in the Peace Corps. He married Evelyn Frandsen on March 17, 1977; later divorced. He worked at the Internal Revenue Service for 17 years and was working there at the time of his illness.

He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Marie Beutler; two stepchildren, Laura and Michael Russell; parents; two brothers, Roger Jon Beutler, Bountiful; Paul Steven Beutler, Clearfield. He was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Kent Beutler.

Funeral services will be Thursday January 24, 1991 at 12 noon at Bountiful 45th LDS Ward Chapel, 115 East 2000 South, Bountiful. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and from 11-11:45 a.m. at the chapel prior to the funeral. Mike Jacobs

Michael Billings Jacobs, 43, passed away September 21, 1990 from a climbing accident while working in the Grand Canyon with the Moki-Mac River Expedition.

Born July 22, 1947 in Salt Lake City, the son of the late Don Howard Jacobs and Helen Jacobs Dickerson. He lived in Kanab with his wife, Barbara Warner Jacobs, who shares his love of outdoors, nature, and the environment. He graduated from Bountiful High School and later attended BYU. He served an LDS mission in the East Central States. He married Nancy Jo Stroud and later divorced. He was Vice-President of F.I.S. and later worked for several river expeditions in Southeastern Utah and Arizona.

Survived by wife, Barbara, Kanab; mother and stepfather, Helen and Bert Dickerson, Hurricane; two brothers, Larry and Dixie Jacobs, Bountiful; Barney Jacobs, Salt Lake City; two sisters, Karen Jacobs, Murray; Pat and Lynn Bryson, Orem; one step-brother, Aron Dickerson.

Memorial services were held at Marble Canyon, Arizona.

Shirley Hayes

Shirley Hayes Jones, age 42, died Friday, Sept. 29, 1989, at a local hospital.  She was born Feb. 11, 1947 in Seattle, WA to Robert and Christine Gerving Hayes.  Married Robert A. Jones, March 29, 1966, in Holladay, UT.

Shirley was a graduate of Bountiful High School.  She enjoyed boating and gardening. 

Survived by her husband, Bob, North Salt Lake; sons, Troy, currently in the military in Massachusetts; Tommy of North Salt Lake; a daughter, Tiffany, North Salt Lake; and a grandson, Tyler.  Also surviving are 10 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 3, at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary Chapel.

Sharon Uhrey

SALEM, Ohio – Sharon Lee Bowman, 40, of 664 W. Pidgen Rd., Salem, Ohio, died Wednesday, June 29, 1988, at a Salem Hospital of causes pending a medical examiner’s report.

She was born July 7, 1947, in Ogden, a daughter of Robert L. and Jeanine Murdock Uhrey. She married Larry Mariani, April 6, 1964. They were later divorced. She married Bruce Bowman, March 15, 1974, in Elko, Nev. She was a member of the LDS Church. She was reared and educated in Ogden and Bountiful.

She had been employed at IRS, Hill Air Force Base in personnel, Smith’s Food King, Albertsons, and Nice Corporation, as a bookkeeper. She moved to Ohio with her family in September, 1986. Her hobbies were oil painting, skiing, boating, bowling and golfing.

Surviving are her husband of Salem, Ohio; two sons and one daughter, Darren Mariani, Shane Mariani, both of Ogden; Kristin Bowman, Salem, Ohio; two stepsons, Brian Bowman and Scott Bowman, both of Ogden; one step grandchild. Also surviving are her mother, Jeanine Madison, Ogden; her father, Robert L. Uhrey, Thousand Oaks, Calif; grandparents, Joseph R. and Wylma Murdock, Ogden; three brothers, Ronald Madison, Steve Madison, and Jim Madison, all of Ogden.

Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Leavitt’s Chapel of Flowers Mortuary, 836 36th St., Ogden. Friends may call at the mortuary Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park.

John Pack

Archie John Pack, age 38, died February 15, 1986 in Salt Lake City, UT.

Born June 7, 1947, Logan, UT, son of Philip W. and Jessene McFarland Pack.  Married Carol McMillan, January 16, 1976, Salt Lake LDS Temple.  He served an LDS Mission to Finland 1966-68.  Graduate of Utah State University, 1972.  He worked as a newscaster on radio and TV in Logan and Salt Lake Cit.  At the time of his death he was employed by KSL TV as a reporter.  He was active in civic, political and religious organizations.

Survivors: wife; sons, Russell, Gary, Brandon J., Derin P., all of Salt Lake City; father; brothers, Blair P., Hattiesburg, Mississippi; Douglas L., Farmington; Steven J., Bountiful.  Preceded in death by his mother, Jesene M. Pack.

Jim Boog

Jimmy Lee Boog was born on February 16, 1947 in Salt Lake City, UT to Bob Lee and Norma Raleigh Boog.  He had four younger siblings: Bruce, Linda, Bob and Jack.

Jim was a cross-country runner who won many events during his school days in Tachikawa, near Tokyo, Japan as well as BHS where he spent his senior year.

Jim attended Weber State College, the IBM school and served in the National Guard until his death.  He married Susan Davis, September 23, 1968 in Salt Lake City.  Following their divorce, he married Susan Anne Hague Wright on Aug. 15, 1975 in Salt Lake City, UT with whom he had three girls: Melissa, Katherine and Amy.

A few months after his diagnosis, Jim succumbed to esophageal cancer in Bountiful, UT on August 25, 1985 at the age of 38 and is buried in the Bountiful Memorial Park.

Jerry Wilson

Jerry served in the US Army from Oct. 5, 1966 to Oct. 4, 1968.  He married Barbara J. Hays in Los Angeles on December 21, 1973. 

Jerry passed away in Los Angeles, CA in November 23, 1984 and is buried in the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA. 

Fred Crawley

Fred was born September 2, 1947 in Salt Lake City, UT, a son of Frederick Samuel and Lois Day Crawley.  Fred married Lauris Bodily October 27, 1964 in Bountiful, UT.  

He is survived by his wife, Renton, WA; children: Jami, Tishi, Marcie, Misty and Lissa, all of Renton.  Also surviving are his parents, Bountiful; grandparents, Alton and Hannah Day, Bountiful; brother, Richard Crawley, Centerville.

Graveside services were held Sept. 28, 1984 at the Bountiful City Cemetery, where he was interred.

Elaine Hunter

Elaine Hunter, age 35, died Oct. 5, 1982 in a Salt Lake City hospital of cancer.

Elaine was born on Aug. 1, 1947 in Salt Lake City, UT to James Curtis and Lucile Pack Hunter.

She attended Davis County Schools, graduating from Bountiful High School.  Attended Weber State College, Utah State and University of Utah.

Elaine married Philip Nelson Dunlop on August 23, 1968 in Salt Lake City, UT.  They were divorced on Feb. 18, 1972 in Clark County, NV.  She also married Michael H. Watkins and was later divorced. 

Elaine was employed until the time of her illness at Phillips Petroleum Co.  She was a member of the LDS Church.

Survivors include her parents of Bountiful; sister Andrea L. Hunter, Greenville, NC; two brothers, James P., Bountiful and Paul C., North Salt Lake; one niece and one nephew.  Funeral services were held Oct. 8 at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary Chapel.  Interment was in the Bountiful Memorial Park.

Nancy Johnson

Nancy Ann Johnson was born Jan. 15, 1947 in Salt Lake City, UT.  She was adopted Feb. 10th, 1948 by James and Deseret Gedge Johnson.  Nancy married James Charles Hill, DDS on May 31, 1968 in Logan, UT.  She was the mother of five adorable boys: James Travis, Jeremy, Charles Isaac, KC, and Benjamin T, the youngest of whom was only four at her passing.  Words from her son, Ben, "Nancy was a person who made lifelong friends. The people who supported us through that tough time, still talk about her like she was here yesterday, even though it has been nearly 40 years."

One block from home, on Aug. 22, 1982, 35-year-old Nancy was involved in a horrific two-vehicle accident near Gridley, CA, caused by a drunk driver who ran a stop sign and broadsided their car.  Nancy died instantly.  Another's life was also taken and eight were injured.  Her children as well as neighborhood kids were in her car.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Deseret Johnson 1913-1979.  Nancy was survived by her husband, James Charles Hill, her five sons: Travis, Jeremy, Charlie, KC, and Ben, (plus 14 grandchildren to come), her father, James Alexander Johnson 1912-1991, a brother, David Allan Johnson, 1945-2004 and her brother Michael Herbert Johnson, 1949-2000.  She is buried in the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery, in Butte County, CA.

Brent Harrison

Brent Eakle Harrison was born Sept 26, 1947 to Ralph Holbrook and LaVaun Eakle Harrison.  He married Marsha Madelynn West on Aug. 6, 1968 in Salt Lake City, UT.

Brent and his wife died in a drowning accident on June 14, 1980 in Big Cottonwood Canyon.  They were survived by their son, Sterling West Harrison and daughter Heather Harrison.  He was buried in Bountiful, UT.

Funeral services were held October 1, 1977 in Bountiful for Sally Stringfellow Pribble, 30, of Layton. 

She died on Sept. 28, 1977 of a brain tumor.  She was born in Salt Lake City on June 15, 1947 to Donald B. and Donna K. Jarvis Stringfellow.

She married Clair J. Pribble on Feb. 14, 1975 in Farmington.

She was employed by the State of Utah in Environmental Agency for eight years, a member of the Bountiful Sweet Adelines, member of a Layton Ward and a Relief Society visiting teacher. 

She is survived by her husband of Layton; parents, Bountiful; brothers, Shan Stringfellow, Murray' Scott Stringfellow, Anchorage, Alaska, sister, Mrs. Cory (Julie) Howard, Bountiful; grandmother, Mrs. Katie Jarvis, Fremont, CA.

Services were held on Oct. 1 in the Lindquist Bountiful Mortuary Chapel.  Interment was in the Aultorest Memorial Park, Ogden.

Terry Allen

Terry Murl Allen was born May, 29, 1947 in Salt Lake City, UT to Murl Bryant and Laberda Draper Allen.

He married Peggy Colleen Allred on February 4, 1966.  Terry and Peggy were parents of a baby boy, Troy Murl Allen, who died at 24 days, cause of death: prematurity and bronco-pneumonia.

Terry served in the US Army from June 9, 1966 until June 6, 1969.  According to his marker, he was a Sergeant E5 and served in Vietnam.

He later married Suzanne Faith Fisher on March 22 1974 in Elko, NV.

Terry passed away on December 26, 1975 at the age of 28 and is buried not far from his baby son at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, UT 

Reva Ratcliffe

Reva Gay Ratcliffe Moser Mertes was born January 5, 1947 in Roanoke, VA to Ira Hale and Nora Lee Smith Ratcliffe.  She first married Richard D. Moser.  She later married David Mertes on April 5, 1972 in Elko, NV.  Reva had at least one child, a daughter.

Reva died September 27, 1975 in Salt Lake City, UT and is buried in West Jordan, UT at the Redwood Memorial Estates.

Reva was listed in the Sophmore BHS directory.

Paul Reitz

Paul William Reitz, age 28, of 720 West 925 South, died Sept. 13, 1975 at his home of cancer.

Paul was born Dec. 16, 1946 at Grand Junction, CO to Robert William and Helen Johnson Reitz. He married Nancy Lynn Miller Aug. 21, 1969 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He was a graduate of Bountiful High School. He graduated from the Bountiful Seminary, also graduated with honors from the U of U receiving his MBA degree. He was active in the LDS Church and served as a missionary in the Mexico South East Mission.

Mr. Reitz is survived by his wife Nancy of Woods Cross; sons: Robert Miller and Randall Scot, also of Woods Cross.

Parents: Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Reitz of Bountiful; grandmother, Mrs. Ursula Miller of Denver, CO; brothers and sisters: Mrs. Carol Jean (Ruben) Anderson of Woods Cross; Robert J. of Midvale, Stephen C. of Woods Cross; and Bruce A. of Bountiful.

Funeral Services were held Wednesday, Sep. 17, 1975 at the South Bountiful Third and Fourth Ward Chapel. Bishop David Sundstrom conducted. Interment Bountiful Memorial Park.

Steve Ostler

SALT LAKE CITY – Services will be Monday at 12:30 p.m. in the Ensign Fifth LDS Ward Chapel at 589 18th Ave., Salt Lake City for Dr. Steven Virgil Ostler, 28, who died Thursday, May 29, 1975 of injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Grants, NM. He was a brother to Craig Ostler of American Fork.

He was born Nov. 27, 1946 in Salt Lake City to Virgil F. and Josie Anderson Ostler. He married Carolyn Butler on Dec. 18, 1968 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a graduate of the University of Utah, University of Awtonoma of Guadalajara, Mexico College of Medicine. He founded a medical clinic in Guadalajara for the under-privileged.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Katherine Ostler of Salt Lake City: his parents of Salt Lake City: two brothers and one sister, James Ostler and Susan Ostler, both of Salt Lake City; Craig Ostler of American Fork; grandmother, Mrs L. G. Nockby of Salt Lake City.

Friends may call at 260 E. South Temple tonight from 6 to 8 o’clock and at the chapel one hour before services. Burial will be in Salt Lake City Cemetery.  Published in the Daily Herald, Provo Utah, June 1, 1975

Shelley Hughes

Roshelle (Shelley) Hughes, age 27, died Feb. 20, 1975 in Anaheim, CA, after a short illness.

Born Aug. 7, 1947 at Salt Lake City, UT to Preston and Marjorie Springer Hughes.

She was a graduate of Bountiful High School, attended Weber State College for two years, former employee of the LDS Missionary Department, was a member of the ward choir and a Primary teacher in the Garden Grove Ward, CA at the time of her passing.  She served an LDS mission to Georgia and California.

She is survived by her parents of Bountiful, a sister, Mrs. James (Dawn) Ballantyne, Bountiful; Byron P., Roy and Brent We. of Provo.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Russon Brothers Bountiful Union Mortuary Chapel.

Interment was in the Bountiful Memorial Park.  Obituary listed in the Davis County Clipper.

Randy Nelson

Funeral services were held for Randy Wayne Nelson, 26, of 752 East 8th South in Salt Lake City, who died June 18, 1973 at the St. Mark’s Hospital of natural causes.

Mr. Nelson was born September 1, 1947 in Gunnison, UT, son of Wayne Hilton and Phyllis Jensen Nelson.  He married Paula Hendricksen March 9, 1973 in Salt Lake City.

He was a truck driver for Bruce Lines.  Member of the LDS Church.  He lived in Salt Lake City and Bountiful areas since 1953.  Graduated from Bountiful High School and attended the University of Utah.

Survivors include his widow, Paula Hendricksen Nelson of Salt Lake City, parents of Bountiful, one brother, James C. Nelson of Bountiful, two sisters, Kathy Nelson and Carolee Nelson, both of Bountiful; grandparents, James Hlton Nelson, Redmond, Utah; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Alvin Jensen of Actell, Utah.

Services were held Thursday at the Bountiful 42nd Ward at 1:00 PM.  Interment was in Midway, UT.

Sam Salisbury

October 13, 1968

Samuel J. Salisbury, 22, Bountiful, died of injuries suffered in an automobile accident Oct. 13, 1968 near Wendover, Nev.  Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 17 in the Bountiful 5th LDS ward chapel, under the direction of the Bountiful Union Mortuary.

Samuel Salisbury was born July 14, 1946 to William T. and Wilma Wilson Salisbury in Tulsa, OK.

He was a graduate of Bountiful High School, a warehouse truck driver, a US Army Reservist, and a member of the LDS Church.

Surviving him are his parents of Bountiful;  brothers, William, Jr., Richard Lee, Thomas A., all of Bountiful; grandparents, Mrs. Ethel Salisbury, Bountiful, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wood, Drumright, OK.  Sam was buried at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Mike Back

October 13, 1968

Terry Michael Back, 21, Bountiful, died of injuries suffered in an automobile accident Oct. 13, 1968 near Wendover, Nev.  Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 16 in the Bountiful 5th LDS ward chapel under the direction of the Union Mortuary.

Terry Michael Back was born Feb. 26, 1947 to LeRoy and Norma Terry Back at Salt Lake City, UT.  He was a student at Utah State University and a former employee of the Union Pacific Railroad. 

He was a member of the LDS Church and served in the US Army from 1966-1968.  

Surviving are his mother, brothers and sisters, Lenny, Bountiful; Mrs. Stan (Lynne) Schooley, Flagstaff, AZ; Mrs. Byron (Kathy) Dalrymple, Centerville; grandmother, Mrs. Grace W. Back, Salt Lake City, UT. 

Mike was buried in Bountiful, UT.  Published in the Davis County Clipper, Oct. 18, 1968.

Terry Day

September 29, 1968

Lance Corporal Terry Buckles Day, son of Elbert L. and Josephine Buckles Day 1235 N. 400 E., Bountiful, was killed Sept. 29, 1968 in a helicopter crash after being shot down by enemy fire in Vietnam, ten miles southwest of Da Nang, Quang Nam Province.

Terry B. Day was born July 26, 1947 in Salt Lake City.  He was a priest in the Bountiful 27th LDS ward, and a graduate of Bountiful High School in 1965.  He had attended Weber State College.

He enlisted in the US Marines Aug. 23, 1966 and arrived in Vietnam October, 1967.  He was an aerial gunner stationed at Marble Mountain, Vietnam Marine Base.  He became an Aerial Camera Systems Technician with the HML-167, MAG-16, 1ST MAW, III MAF unit.

Surviving are his parents and one sister, Mrs. Gerald (Jodie) D. Kinghorn of Bountiful.

Interment Centerville Cemetery.

Greg Hart

August 14, 1964

Gregory Rich Hart, 17, Bountiful High School track star, died of cancer Friday 5:25 AM at his home on August 14, 1964.

The Bountiful High student was born September 29, 1946, in Salt Lake City, a son of Heber J and Jean Rich Hart. Survivors include his parents; two brothers and three sisters, Ned, Scott, Catherine, Judity, and Margaret Ann, all of Bountiful; grandparents, Mrs. Sarah P Hart, Bloomington, Idaho and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence M. Rich, Paris, Idaho.

He was a member of the Bountiful Ninth Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial in the Paris, Idaho Cemetery.

Jimmy Krek

March 26, 1968

Sgt. Philip James Krek, Jr., 21, son of Mr. & Mrs. Philip J. Krek, 478 Spring Creek Dr., Bountiful, was killed in action Mar. 26, 1968 in Thua Thien Province, South Vietnam. 

He was a paratrooper with the B CO, 1ST BN, 502ND INFANTRY, 101st Airborne Division since Dec. 13, 1967.  He was drafted Mar. 1, 1966 and volunteered for Vietnam duty after his basic training at Ft. Campbell, KY was completed. 

He was a graduate of Bountiful High School in 1965 and was a member of St. Olaf’s Catholic Church in Bountiful.

He was born in Salt Lake City, Nov. 30, 1946 a son of Philip Janes and Lucille Frisco Krek.

Surviving him are his parents; two brothers, and a sister, Jay Dee and Dale of Bountiful, Mrs. David (Rosemarie) Chapman, Orem; grandfather, Falco Frisco, Bountiful.

Requiem Mass was held April 8, in St. Olaf’s Church, Bountiful.  Holy Rosary was recited April 7 in the Neil O’Donnell Mortuary.  Military services were held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
