In Memoriam

The purpose of this blog is to honor our former classmates who attended Bountiful High School as members of the class of 1965 and are now deceased. These souls, who have gone before us, were our friends, our associates, and an important part of our own history. They deserve to be remembered. We were able to research a school photo for most of these former classmates. We have also located obituaries for many of them, and have included statistical information regarding the death of those for whom an obituary was not found.

Betty Matthews














On November 24, 2004, Betty Ann Launer, 57, was carried from the darkness of her cancer into the bright light and loving arms of Jesus. She is also celebrating her reunion with the love of her earthly life, Gary, sharing in the worship and praising of Jesus.
Born January 7, 1947 in Salt Lake City, UT to Elmo and Lorene Matthews. She married her high school sweetheart, Gary Launer on February 17, 1965. Her happiness and joy was taking care of and being surrounded by her family. She had many friends throughout the years that meant a great deal to her.
Betty attended Calvary Chapel of Salt Lake City where she grew strong in the Lord; her faith was as solid as her salvation. She worked for DOPL the last eight years where she enjoyed her job as well as her co-workers.
Survived by daughters, Dana (Mark) Knold, Jennifer Launer, and Jill (Jeff) Howe; mother, Lorene Matthews; sisters, Carolyn Simonsen, Jeannie Schreck, and Sandy Petersen; brother, Ronald Matthews; grandchildren, Dustin (Jennifer) Turner, and Michael Turner; great granddaughter, June Turner; granddogs, Cody and Mille. Preceded in death by daughter, Anissa Kaye; father, Elmo Matthews, husband and love of her life, Gary; dog, Ziggy; granddog, Pug.
Funeral services will be held Nov. 29, at 11:00 am at Calvary Chapel, 460 W. Century Dr. (4350 S.), Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment will follow at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
