A graduate of the Utah State University (1969) and Michigan State University (1976) in Child Development. A gifted artist and writer, she published a children's book and had published articles in the Ensign Magazine. She served more than thirty years in various leadership positions for her church including seven years as voluntary instructor of advanced religious studies courses for students in the Wellesley College and Boston University, and as the head of the women's organization for the greater Boston area. Recently, she served on the public affairs committee for the Boston Temple. She also served as a trusted advisor to her husband who serves as leader of the LDS community in the greater Boston area.
Her greatest pride was her nine children who have achieved academic honors and followed her in a life of Christian service -- all of her children who have graduated from high school have also taken time from college programs to serve church missions. Survived by her husband, Lloyd S. Baird; nine children (four married); five grandchildren. Children: Jennifer Baird West (Mark), Bret Jonathan Baird (Tricia Wudel), Anthony Walter Baird (Heidi Ward), Peter Joshua Baird, Christopher Stanford Baird (Ellen Shumway), Matthew David Baird, Samuel Paul Baird, Justin Bruce Baird, and Nathanael Lloyd Baird. Also survived by three brothers and three sisters: Darl Hansen (Louise), Gary Hansen (Patty), Mary Beth Dayley (Edward), Janet Davis (Glen), Will Hansen (Lois), Ann Chapman (Jim); stepmother, Donna Mae Hansen; and eight stepbrothers and sisters: Cheryl Easton-Okubo, Vickie Fryday (Brian), David Easton, Terri Allen (Elvin), Steven Easton (Karen), Drew Easton (Heike), Diana Osborne (Bill), Dale Easton (Cristi); many nieces and nephews who loved and admired her.
